Can You Stand the Rain?

Hard times have a way of revealing our true character and beliefs. As we all know, hard times are inevitable, but a lot of our defining moments in life come out of these times. Therefore, the way that we respond to adverse situations is important. Not only do our actions have an affect on those around us (children, spouses, etc.), but they also show others if we truly believe what we say we do, and what type of character we have.

So, when you are faced with a high-stress situation that is out of the norm, do you lash out at others, making them your punching bag? Do you burn bridges with those who deemed you as trustworthy? Do you begin to act out of desperation? Or do you take time to consider how all of the above would affect you and your loved ones and then develop a plan of action? It can be hard to act rationally during times of increased stress and pressure, but this is when it would be best not to make a decision. Sometimes taking a moment to step away from a situation provides the needed moment of clarity to make a sound decision.
